JOB SUMMARY: The Shipping Clerk is responsible for fulfilling orders, handling shipping materials, checking product accuracy, preparing shipping documents, maintaining inventory, and ensuring smooth material flow in the storeroom and shipping dock.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Fills interplant and customer orders, including loading and unloading materials for both inside and outside warehouses.
2. Works with stock pick lists, shop receiving documents, and vendor receiving documentation to perform necessary transactions.
3. Checks products against shipping orders to ensure accurate quantities, identification, and correct materials are shipped.
4. Works with wood, paper and paperboard, hardboard, waterproof paper and various packing materials including foam.
5. Prepares bills of landing or dray tickets for each shipment, clearing and filing of pack lists.
6. Posts shipments to customer orders, shows orders as shipped, and forwards documents to the finance department.
7. Maintains other shipping records such as goods returned, returnable pallets, dunnage, etc.
8. Collects information for damage claims.
9. Responsible for issuing and receiving products to and from the storeroom.
10. Maintains proper inventory in the storeroom by doing stock adjustments, processing job pick lists, and sales order pick lists.
11. Fixes any inventory errors in the storeroom.
12. Counts parts and investigates adjustments.
13. Responsible for analyzing sales orders to determine if sales orders are ready to be shipped to the customer.
14. Prints sales orders and job pick lists.
15. Performs part maintenance to assign proper bin locations.
16. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school degree or equivalent.
Experience: At least one year of experience in storeroom and shipping or in a related area.
Skills: Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Should be familiar with UPS WorldShip or current carrier-based shipping software, and Epicor business system. Must be able to use programs located on the Internet for all carriers to arrange pickups, quote freight and prepare shipping documents: FedEx, DHL. Must know and understand customs requirements in the countries that Besser serves.
Requirements: Must pass the shipping test. Must be capable of lifting up to 40 pounds.
