Training for Oldcastle Staff in Indianapolis, Indiana
Training at Besser takes many forms. We conduct Blockmakers Workshops®, offer online courses and also bring our training direct to producers in their plants. Most recently, we were thrilled to participate in Oldcastle’s training program held on 12 November in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The day began with more than a dozen students, representing six different Oldcastle facilities, touring Northfield Indy’s two fully-automated Besser equipped plants, which include the dual Dynapac and V3-12 concrete products machines and the Masa paver plant. Jeff Oliver, Plant Support Specialist for Oldcastle, kicked off the classroom training by introducing Gerri Mulka. Gerri is a longtime Alpena-based Besser Customer Service Representative. Using the years of experience she has assisting producers over the phone, she shared a wealth of information to make their customer experience easier. She discussed online parts ordering and how to get started, the availability of mold books for quick identification of the parts they typically use, and the importance of machine serial numbers.“Our goal when you call us is to provide you with the most friendly, efficient service possible. Having your equipment serial numbers readily available helps us find the exact parts you need quickly,” Gerri emphasized. She urged the group to make time soon to identify the service parts they’ll need this winter so Besser can make sure they have them when they want them. Gerri explained the improvements to Besser Technical Service contacts and provided direct contact information for everyone in the Alpena Call Center. She thanked the group for their business and reminded them that they can contact the Call Center staff or their Besser Representative for assistance any time they need it.
Next up was John Reedy, Director of Sales–Americas. John gave an overview of the initiatives Besser has worked on during the past few years including the new big board machine, Servopac®, and machine upgrades including Advanced Servo Vibration and Servo Main Drive for their existing Besser cam operated block machines.
