Congratulations to Fred Jacobs, Concrete Products Division Production Manager of Consumer Concrete’s Wyoming, Michigan facility, for earning Master Blockmaker Certification. He was awarded the designation after completing the Advanced Concrete Masonry Technology course recently held at the World Center for Concrete Technology.
Fred’s passion for concrete ignited in a dry cast precast plant 27 years ago. Through the years his passion, skills and knowledge have grown. He’s operated a progression of concrete products machines, starting with a 1956 model V2H, a Bescopac, a V3-12 Vibrapac and a Vibrapac 2000 and now Consumers Concrete’s new Servopac Select. Knowing that continuous education is critical, he’s graduated from many Blockmakers Workshops. He finds joy in his continuous quest for learning something new every day and sharing it with his team and the next generation of professional blockmakers.
“When I first started in the industry I heard about the program and thought it would be nice to achieve it. After years of running the equipment and receiving the training through Besser Company and Alpena Community College, I feel I have not just achieved Master Blockmaker status, I have really earned it,” Fred shared. Now, as a seasoned industry veteran, he’s thrilled and feels it’s humbling to be among a very select group of people that have earned this certification.
“My passion for block production continues to grow; what we do in the concrete products industry can last a lifetime. I take pride in telling my children every time I drive or walk by a building, ‘I made that job or look at that block, I made it 20 years ago!”
