JOB SUMMARY: The Buyer is responsible for the purchase of materials, supplies and services in accordance with company policy and with the objective the materials, supplies and services be available at the time, place, quantity, quality, and price consistent with the needs of the company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Purchases materials, supplies and services in accordance with company policy.
2. Reviews purchase requisitions and bids for accuracy and completeness and adherence to company procedures, policies, and monetary limits.
3. Promotes and maintains good business relationships with suppliers.
4. Researches and identifies solutions and alternatives for non‐standard parts.
5. Must be open to completing other duties not specifically listed above as requested by the Purchasing or Manufacturing team.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associate degree preferred in business or similar field.
Experience: Two years of experience as a buyer or equivalent position. Mechanical and/or electrical experience is preferred.
Skills: Reasonably well‐developed negotiating skills. Good verbal and written communication. Ability to promote successful working relationships with company staff and vendors. Ability to communicate effectively and clearly by telephone, in person and in writing. Must be able to multitask and work with deadlines. Knowledge of inventory procedures. Ability to read manufacturing drawings. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office software programs and business systems (EPICORE preferred).
