JOB SUMMARY: The Engineering Apprentice is a training position that requires no prior engineering experience. This position will learn how to take finished SolidWorks models and complete the steps in SolidWorks and Epicor needed to release jobs to manufacturing. The role works closely with both manufacturing and engineering to manage change requests, make basic updates to existing models, and coordinate with customers to obtain necessary approvals. This position is intended as a pathway to the Mechanical Detailer position.

Essential Functions

 1. Utilizes SolidWorks/CAD systems for model creation and design, drafting, and of Besser products. 

2. Updates designs for products to meet defined company and customer requirements. 

3. Creates, edits, and queries bills of materials in business system. 

4. Completes required forms for drawing revisions and releases. 

5. Works with manufacturing to catalog change requests. 

6. Performs other duties as assigned. 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS 

1. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent GED. 

2. Experience: 1–2 years of continuous full-time work experience. 

3. Skills: Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows. Mechanical aptitude and strong interest in technical details related to form, fit, and function. Willingness and ability to learn SolidWorks, Epicor, SolidCam, Omniwin, and other manufacturing software as needed. Strong time management skills. Basic math proficiency (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, geometry). Ability to quickly learn new tasks through both online and in-person training.
