JOB SUMMARY: The Fabricator is responsible for all aspects of fabricating small and large weldments.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Set up Mig, Stick, and Tig Welders for optimum penetration.
2. Understand weld symbols per AWS A2.1-93.
3. Locate and pull materials using forklift when necessary.
4. Scribes reference lines on work piece according to blueprints, templates, sample parts, or specifications.
5. Use various cutting tools such as torch, saws, drill, and shear.
6. Maintain all equipment used to fabricate, including but not limited to welder, grinder, torch, and drill.
7. Setup and operate various types of rolls to roll angle, flatbar, channel, and sheets.
8. Reads work order for specifications, such as materials to be used, location of cutting lines, and dimensions and tolerances.
9. Measures completed work piece to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, or rulers.
10. Places work piece manually or using hoist, and clamps into position.
11. Examines completed work pieces for defects such as chipped edges and marred surfaces, and sorts defective pieces according to defect.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

1. Education:  High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Experience:  Two years shop experience.
3. Skills:  Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair and maintenance.  Knowledge of blueprints, drawings and models.  Knowledge of mathematics.  The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull and carry objects.  The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms, and/or legs.   Using hands and arms in handling, installing, forming, positioning, and moving materials or in manipulating things such as hand tools and hoist.
4. Requirements: Operator must work in a safe manner and must have a safe work record.  Safety must be the first and foremost concern as these machines are capable of great bodily harm.
