JOB SUMMARY: The Flame Cut Operator operates flame cutting machinery to accurately cut materials according to engineering drawings, work orders, and product specifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Operates flame cutting machinery to cut metal parts to specified dimensions and tolerances, following engineering drawings and job orders. 
  2. Performs routine equipment setup, adjustments, and maintenance to ensure optimal operation.
  3. Inspects finished parts for quality and accuracy, reporting any deviations or issues to supervisors.
  4. Collaborates with production and engineering teams to meet project schedules and production targets.
  5. Maintains a clean and safe work area, following all safety protocols, and assists with inventory management and material handling as needed.
  6. Participates in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and support lean manufacturing practices.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience:  Previous experience operating flame cutting or other metal fabrication equipment is preferred but not required; on-the-job training will be provided.

Skills: Involves moderate intellectual effort, including reading and interpreting technical drawings, understanding cutting specifications, making adjustments to equipment, and identifying potential quality or safety issues. Requires problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow established procedures to ensure accurate and efficient production.

Requirements: Operator must work in a safe manner and must have a safe work record. Safety must be the first and foremost concern as these machines are capable of great bodily harm.
