Today is the last day of the American Concrete Pipe Association’s (ACPA) week-long event taking place on the campus of the University of Texas in Arlington. Those attending were able to benefit from exceptionally comprehensive pipe school sessions, local pipe plant tours, a well-attended trade show, and a Business to Business (B2B) Exchange.  The B2B Exchange is a program for buyers and sellers to connect through private meetings, essentially providing a more personalized venue for discussion not typically available on the trade show floor. On Wednesday, ACPA members were able to visit two pipe plants: Forterra Building Products in Grand Prairie, TX and Thompson Pipe Plant – Dallas in Alvarado, TX.  Forterra is one of the largest precast concrete pipe facilities in the world, operating a multitude machines that includes three Besser pipe machines.  At Thompson Pipe, the tour was welcomed with coffee and breakfast before watching two side-by-side Besser A-Series BiDis effortlessly producing pipe.  Other equipment included a Vibro-Mac, a Besser batch plant, wire cage production, and a spacer room. The week's worth of events were lively and well attended and will wrap up with committee meetings and the association’s first B2B event.  Attending for Besser is Kevin Curtis, Ryan Suszek, Gary Ericson, Grant Fluent, Travis Dye, Terri Rondeau, Jerry Cowden, and Scott Kennedy.
