Getting To Know Your Customer Service Team: Monica Strieter

“Hello, Besser Company, this is Monica, how can I help you today?” Customers on the other end of the phone can hear the smile in Monica Strieter’s voice through the phone line as she greets each caller. Her sincere desire is to make each of their calls to Besser, whether to order parts, check on an order or to simply ask a question, as pleasant as possible.
Monica is one of our newest Customer Service Representatives. She joined Besser with a resume that showcases her strength in customer service, management and accounting. Of all these areas, she finds one-on-one contact with customers the most rewarding. At Besser she’s front line in that arena answering calls from customers throughout North America. Her responsibilities include assisting with and placing their orders, researching illusive part numbers so that orders can be placed correctly and providing information.
Although her career with Besser is relatively short, her knowledge is impressive. She’s an eager learner and relishes every opportunity to learn more. A recent visit to Cheboygan Cement in Cheboygan, Michigan USA, allowed her to watch Besser equipment run and talk with people throughout the plant to discover what she can do to make their experience with Besser top-notch. She’s looking forward to expanding her knowledge by visiting other Besser plants and participating in the Blockmakers Workshops® in the months to come.
Originally from Farmington, a suburb of Detroit, Michigan, she and her husband Jack used to work all week and drive four hours up north on Friday to spend the weekend at their hunting camp. Each drive north brought them to the place they felt the most alive. During one drive home, about twenty years ago, they decided to start living the lifestyle they wanted and not wait until retirement. Living the dream required sacrifice, for a few years Jack had to commute to Ann Arbor to his job as a Master Electrician during the week and Monica had to find a new position.
It was easy for Monica to find employment with her upbeat personality and experience in management and accounting. She worked for a construction company in Hillman, Michigan for twelve years, did a brief stint for a gluten-free food processing plant also in Hillman, before accepting a position in customer service and contractor sales at Bernard Building Center before coming to Besser.
At Besser she enjoys the daily variety that her position provides; she especially enjoys helping customers get exactly what they need, becoming familiar with their equipment and getting to know them personally. She’s proud to work for Besser because, “our equipment is made in America, we don’t cut corners and I know firsthand what goes into it.”
Monica’s activities outside of work include spending time in the great outdoors with her husband, who is now retired. Together they enjoy being out in the woods at their hunting camp, and Monica likes to wildcraft, which is collecting plant materials in their natural habitat for food, medicine and craft. They also spend time with their son Wade who lives up north as well and is following in his father’s footsteps to become a Master Electrician.
In Monica’s eyes her career has come full circle in the construction sector. She began as an accountant working for a carpenter’s union, then for a construction company and a building center before coming to Besser. She feels she’s found her home here. She gets to utilize all of her strengths doing what she loves most, helping people. Monica can be reached at +1.989.354.1046 or mstrieter@besser.com.
