MiCareerQuest

Small town Onaway, Michigan generated a big buzz this week with an exciting career readiness event made available to Northern Michigan students. MiCareerQuest, organized by Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium, is the largest one-day event in this region aimed at sparking a student’s interest in four specific industries: Manufacturing, Technology, Healthcare, and Construction. This is the kind of event that hits close to our hearts at Besser. Pursuing a career in manufacturing isn’t the most conventional choice for young students these days, which has created some large gaps to fill in terms of employment. This event provided an excellent opportunity to create and grow new career interests in our youth!

In fact, participating companies were asked specifically to leave their marketing materials and job openings behind and instead direct their focus on generating industry excitement and curiosity from our future workforce. Students were also able to receive information on how to pursue specific careers as they move closer to graduation. Besser was happy to support this event by sending volunteers to assist with bringing the students from station to station and encouraging participation. Besser Company will continue to promote industry awareness and open doors for our local youth with hopes that someday they will want to call Besser home.
