Product Enhancement Equipment Focus of Featured Plant Tour
The Besser segment of the Featured Plant Tour at the CMHA Annual Meeting in Columbus, Ohio had a theme that is well-versed amongst our team: product enhancement with an emphasis on producing value-added units. We would like to express our gratitude to Hagerstown Block Company, in Hagerstown, and GMS, an Oldcastle Company, for allowing us to showcase their equipment.Duane Rondeau, Director of Business Development and Procurement, acted as the emcee for the three Besser equipped facilities. The tour started with videos of the two grinders in operation in Hagerstown, MD, including an interview with Company President, Doy Sneckenberger. Doy expressed his satisfaction with the Three-Head Concrete Masonry Grinder and the Utility Grinder, commenting on their ease of use and the beautiful finish they provide on concrete products. The tour continued with a video presentation of the automated Tumbling Line in Jonesboro, GA. Their Regional Paver Operation Manager, Danny Spencer, commented on the various products processed by the equipment, “The tumbler is used for a mix of products, including pavers from 45 – 80 mm in all different shapes along with retaining wall units.” The Besser portion of the tour concluded with a virtual visit to the Off-Line Splitting System in Clarksville, TN, which employs a robot with a two-way servo clamp, a S63EZ Splitter, and a fully automatic cuber. At the end of each tour, the presenting company raffled off a prize valued at $500. Congratulations to Jeff Price from Rochester Concrete Products, who won the 3-piece luggage set we raffled off. The Besser Team extends our thanks to all who participated in the tour.
